Omega Seamaster Banana Original

$3450 USD

This is an EXTREMELY clean and uncommon OMEGA SEAMASTER 200m. dive watch from 1970 (with 30 million serial) we call the “BANANA 200”. I coined the name of this watch the “BANANA 200” about 7 years ago here at WatchesToBuy.com and it seems to have stuck! We have sold more of these than any other dealer in the world. This (actual) watch was leased by us to Mad Men for season 7-we are not sure if it appeared on camera. These dials were also originally printed in grey and in black dial configurations and we named “the poppy 200” with all variations being quite uncommon. French military divers were known to wear these watches. The massive case measures 41mm. not including the crown, with mineral glass scratch-less crystal. The vibrant and original rotating bezel clicks one step at a time and is as fine as we have EVER found. This bezel is not available (new) from OMEGA any more, and has not been for YEARS. We have seen these watches with “destroyed” acrylic bezels. Finding a decent bezel installed on an a SEAMASTER 200 is DIFFICULT. The dial and hands are completely original-including the matching vanilla toned lume. Usually, we mfind these with factory replacement dial and hands. You will often see a darkening on the outer edge of the dial on these ORIGINAL dial watches due to the old seals breaking down, such as seen on this example. The seal has been removed and cleaned up. The original screw-down crown is present. The mineral glass crystal is scratch-less and recently replaced by our OMEGA watchmaker. The caliber 565 was the only movement used in these OMEGAS-very robust automatic, having swan’s neck regulation-this one cleaned and accurate. The other special part of this watch is the very clean case, due to the fact this watch was polished PROPERLY by OMEGA TORONTO. We seek for these watches throughout the world-they are becoming VERY hard to find. You will have a hard time finding a finer example… Especially at only $3450.
