Description
Here is an ultra-rare vintage 1938 ref. 3537 Omega Pupitre in stainless steel. This could very well be one of Omega’s rarest vintage watches, as we’ve only seen one appearing at the Omegamania auction in 2007. The elongated case measures a sprawling 22×39.7mm. Cases made of stainless steel in the early years of watch production were difficult to manufacture, and especially curved steel cases. This three-piece case is absolutely original, having an asymmetric bezel polished with satin, brushed sides, and a concave back. When we purchased this watch, it arrived from Argentina in completely rough, and original condition, with the dial heavily stained, and all-original hands intact. This dial was refinished just like the original. The watch sold in the 2007 Omegamania auction is a different (re-dial) that was copied from the original Omega ad. The original dial on this watch came with a reflective frame and Arabic numerals as you see, and when we restored it, this was copied. The original manual winding caliber T17 movement with dust cover was fully overhauled by our Rolex-trained watchmaker and should last for many decades. We consider this rare Omega Pupitre to be on par with the Rolex Prince for collectability but, is much rarer.
