Description
This is a 1959 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer Precision ref. 5506 dress watch produced for the Canadian market only. These early Rolex Explorer watches were part of a series off dress watches that started production in 1954 with other names such as Air-King, Metropolitan, Everest, Meritus, and Golden Egg. The Air-King and Explorer were the two names that survived the marketing experiment. These early dress Explorers and all the above dress versions were produced in smaller numbers than the other sporting Rolex models during this period. This particular 33mm gold-plated case with stainless steel Rolex Oyster case back and original dial with Dauphine hands displays overall very good condition. The automatic winding caliber 1530 movement was just cleaned by our Rolex watchmaker and is accurately keeping time.
