Description
This is an all-original and very uncommon military Oyster Lincoln produced by the Rolex watch company in 1945. The Oyster case is the rarer and larger cushion size, measuring 27.5×36.4mm lug-to-lug. The original Oyster-patented winding crown is still functioning very well. These correct Rolex caliber 59 movements are not signed on the movement plate, but only “ROLEX” on the front, under the dial. The watch was just overhauled, cleaned, and is keeping excellent time. The dial is spectacular and all original with minute track, Arabic numerals, red sweep seconds, and original pencil hands, which is very hard to find in such clean condition! These Oyster watches are small in size to avoid damage during battle. They were designed and sold to Canadian soldiers going overseas in WW2. This is a wonderful example being all original, except (of course) the lizard band, which compliments the watch quite nicely. These vintage military Oyster watches are becoming very hard to find in original, and spectacular condition such as this!
