Description
This is an all original military Oyster Raleigh produced by the Rolex watch company in 1942. The Oyster stainless steel case is in its original condition, and incredibly preserved – not polished and without any dings or major scratches. The original Oyster-patented winding crown still functioning very well and is screwing down. These caliber 59 movements are not signed on the movement plate, but only “ROLEX” on the front, under the dial. The watch was just overhauled, cleaned, and is keeping excellent time. The all-original dial has some usual aging, with gold reflective minute track, Arabic numerals, red sweep seconds, and original blued steel pencil hands. These 30mm stainless steel Oyster watches are small in size to avoid damage during battle. They were designed and sold to Canadian soldiers going overseas in WW2. This is a wonderful example being all original, except (of course) the leather band, which compliments the watch quite nicely. These vintage military Oyster watches are becoming very hard to find in fine, original condition such as this example.
