Description
This is an all-original and uncommon WW2 military Oyster Recorda produced by the Rolex watch company in and about 1942. The gold-plated case is quite nice and truly sparkles, with the ref. 3478 stainless steel Oyster case back having desirable and uncommon R.C.A.F. (Royal Canadian Air Force) markings! The original Oyster-patented winding crown is still functioning perfectly, but much of the print is worn. The caliber 59 movement (all original and signed “ROLEX” under the dial) is keeping time very well after a recent cleaning and overhaul. The original dial has beautifully aged. It is all original with Arabic numerals, red sweep seconds, and red original blued steel pencil hands. These 28.5mm WW2 Oyster watches are small in size and probably designed to avoid damage during battle. They were designed and sold to Canadian soldiers going overseas in WW2. This is a wonderful example being all original, except (of course) the perfect (new) vintage-looking, stitched, leather band that compliments the watch quite nicely. These vintage military Oyster watches are becoming very hard to find in original condition, especially as fine as this example!
