Rolex Oyster Royalite Military WW2

Description

This is a ref. 2280 circa 1942 vintage stainless steel Rolex Oyster Royalite military watch sold only in Canada at the PX stores to soldiers going overseas to fight in WW2. This manual winding Rolex watch came to us with a broken balance staff and a couple of worn parts. We were able to sacrifice another (identical) Rolex movement and restore correctly this movement to perfect operating status after a thorough and recent service. This watch has never been polished and its original. The screw-down Rolex Oyster correct winding crown is present. These are smaller sized watches; measuring 30.5mm and will attract many eyes to your wrist. The original black, glossy dial with both gold and silver gilt printing and twenty-four-hour scale is extremely rare to find; as usually these are silver. The original pencil hands even have the original lume intact. The second hand was likely changed by the soldier to make it more readable during a service; with this one even having lume for easier readability against the black. The complicated gold-gilt outer seconds register even has 1/5th second increments. This is a very collectable vintage military Rolex.
