Description
This is an original 1970s Benrus Type 1 “Sterile” vintage watch. The wording “sterile” comes from the rumors that these watches with only the serial numbers on the case-back were worn by covert operators, such as CIA operatives; so if captured, there are no indications as to which country the captor originated. Most of the vintage Type 1 watches have ordinance information inscribed on the case….this has only the serial number. The steel case measures 43mm. Very few “sterile” versions exist. The dial, case, crown and movement are original. Notice the fixed lug pins. I believe the hands may have been replaced at some time, as they glow brighter than the dial markers. I have priced this very rare watch quite well.
