Description
This vintage 1928 Elgin Lady & Tiger is one of the most collectable vintage ladies watches ever produced! We recently sold one other of these rare watches, and this is the last one we have. This watch was styled in 1925 by Lucien Lelong – truly embodying the roaring-20s design flare! You can see this watch on the cover of the book “American Wristwatches” by Unger and Faber, where it is marked rare. I cannot impart its importance in the history of watchmaking. I am sure visually, you will be enticed! The hinged case of this watch is solid 14k white gold with inlaid enamel heads of both a woman and a tiger in flame orange with black-enamel accents. The handcarved filigree case measures 17x26mm, which is not tiny, making it an easy-to-read size and is without any dings, scratches, or personal engravings. The Elgin winding crown is present. The art-deco dial displays a gentle patina. The original blued steel hands are intact. The manual winding Elgin movement was just cleaned by our watchmaker. These watches have sold for up to $11,000.
