1930s Ancre Chronometre

Description

This is a vintage and possibly new-old-stock (unused) circa 1930s Ancre vintage watch. When we examined this watch, we noticed the finish was factory on the 22x38mm stainless steel case. The dial has barely aged and the movement was shimmering, with no signs of being cleaned in the past. We just had the 15-jewel movement cleaned and it is accurate. The blued steel hands look great. Early stainless steel watches are very collectable and uncommon, due to the fact that steel was the most difficult metal to work with in the 1930s. We see fewer steel watches from this era compared to other metals. Chrome-plated metal was more common. Collectors are beginning to hoard early steel watches and their prices should increase over time.
