1930s Gruen Doctor’s Techni-Quadron Watch

Description

These were the watches that started the vintage watch collecting craze in the 1980s. The Gruen doctor’s watch (also known as the Techni-Quadron) were often given to doctors as a gift by a grateful patient. The large sub-second made heart rates easy to calculate. The same dial design and movements were also used in the Rolex Prince. Aegler produced both the movements for Rolex and Gruen during this era and this caliber 877 is essentially a Rolex Prince movement. The Gruen varieties such as this were actually rarer than the Rolex Prince. This watch has a very clean 21x41mm 14k white-gold-filled case with hammered bezel and original crown. The fine manual winding movement was just cleaned and is accurate. I love the personalized gun insignia embossed on the case rear. The dial was expertly restored and looks pristine and retains the original blued steel handset.
