Description
This is a circa 1938 Luftwaffe pilot’s watch used by the Germans in the early part of WW2. This example is incredibly preserved and retains the original thick and high-sitting glass crystal, which is usually found with heavy chipping, but not this one! The nickel-plated over steel hinged case is large, measuring 37.8×45.6x12mm and is in very fine and uncommonly clean condition for its age. The winding crown is likely original. This manual winding Swiss movement was just cleaned and is accurate. The original dial on this watch is truly fabulous with large radium numerals and matching cathedral, blued steel hands, and sub-seconds register. The dial is signed “D.R.P.u.A.P.” which is a German patent marking. We installed a fine, thick leather NATO-style strap with steel hardware on the fixed lugs.
