1938 Rolex WW2 Officer’s Pocket Watch

Description

This is a large steel 49.5mm Rolex pocket watch which was issued to the British service in WW2 circa 1938. The stunning original black dial and cathedral hands look amazing. The manual winding Rolex (Cortebert 540 caliber) movement was just cleaned and is accurate. These movements were very robust and reliable. At some time either the dial or case back was changed during a service so the case back numbers don’t match the dial number. They are the exact, correct, and original Rolex parts; only the number does not match – no big deal as this was often the case during wartime. The original black glossy dial will really catch your eye with its stylized Arabic numerals. The watch came from an estate and has its original leather lanyard still attached. This dial looks much better in person than my photos. Usually these Rolex watches were worn by officers. You can imagine the places and WW2 situations this vintage Rolex pocket watch has been through.
