1940s Rolex Observatory

Description

This is a circa 1940s Canadian-version Rolex known as the Rolex Observatory measuring a smaller-sized 22×37.5mm lug to lug. This is a men’s watch, but due to its smaller stature, it would look great on a woman as well. The manual winding Rolex movement is of very fine quality and is accurate after just being serviced by our Rolex watchmaker. The dial on this watch is completely original and has aged over the years. Notice the interesting bluish-toned Arabic numerals and inner seconds track. These watches may have been used by doctors to measure pulsations by using the red second hand and inner seconds register. These blued steel hands are also original. The case on this watch is original, being made by Pioneer, which was a contract case company Rolex used in the 1940s. Rolex often used contract cases to avoid importation duties into Canada. These watches are becoming hard to find.
