Description
This 29mm all-original, 1942 stainless steel Rolex Oyster Lipton is becoming harder and harder to find! We have amassed a small collection of these WW2 Canadian Oyster military watches after years of searching throughout Canada. This watch was made by Rolex for the Canadian market only. These watches were sold at PX military stores in WW2 to soldiers going overseas. The smaller case size made them less likely to be damaged during battle. We purchased this watch from the original owner. The dials are interesting and complicated on these Liptons, this one having an original dial, Arabic numerals, 24-hour track, sub-seconds, and mirrored minute track. The pencil hands are original. This watch retains the original Oyster-patented winding crown, which is also in excellent shape. The caliber 59 (correctly signed “ROLEX” under the dial) was just cleaned and is accurate. Notice the nostalgic inscription on the rear dating to 1941, “Fred from Jean.” These are very collectable WW2 military Rolex watches!
