Description
This 27.5mm all-original and correct, 1942 gold-plated Oyster Regent is one of the more uncommon Oyster series of watches. These fine watches were produced by Rolex for the Canadian market. These Oyster watches were sold at PX military stores in Canada during WW2 and marketed to soldiers going overseas. The smaller case size made them less likely to be damaged during battle. Being a cushion shape, these watches look larger on the wrist than the round Oysters. The dials are interesting and complicated on these watches with this example having Arabic numerals, outer reflective minute track, red 24-hour scale, along with sub-seconds. The blued steel, pencil hands are original. I love the original tropical-aged dial – these are so desirable and hard to find! This watch retains the original Oyster-patented winding crown. The manual winding caliber 59 (correctly signed “ROLEX” under the dial) was just cleaned and is accurate. These are very collectable WW2 military Rolex watches.
