Description
This vintage, circa 1942 Rolex Sky-Rocket WW2-era pilot’s watch is an all-original example, including the very uncommon original black dial, blued steel pencil hands, and dustproof winding crown. Look at the original and amazingly aged lume on this dial! The 29mm sterling-silver case is original and fine looking. These smaller-sized 29mm cases were made by either Pioneer or ID. Some are signed Rolex, and others, such as this example are completely original Rolex Sky-Rocket cases. This watch could be shiny and lustrous with a gentle handpolish – we prefer the original silver tarnish. The just-cleaned manual winding caliber 59 movement (signed “ROLEX” under the dial) is accurate. The sterling-silver model is much harder to find than any of the gold-filled or steel options. Again, we bought this watch right from the family of the original owner. These are very collectable and becoming harder to find, especially with the original black dial.
