1942 Royce

Description

We found this circa 1942 Royce Swiss watch that is smaller in size at 21.5×30.5mm (was a mans watch), but would also be perfect for a woman due to its small stature. Eska watch company was was founded during 1918 in Grenchen, Switzerland by S. & E. Kocher and manufactured under the name “Royce” as well. The case is rhodium-plated (looks like platinum) and shimmers like a mirror! Rhodium is closely related to the precious metal, platinum. Rhodium is a lustrous, silver-white metal and is used in jewellery manufacturing because of its brilliance, highly polished appearance, and resistance to tarnish and wear. Rhodium is liquid in its raw, natural state. Rhodium plating was popular in the 1930s and 1940s, is very durable, and very expensive. The case back is stainless steel. The original dial is really wonderful with salmon background and reflective, mirror-like track and Arabic (reflective) numerals. Notice the sub-seconds register and blued steel hands. The manual winding 17-jewel movement was just fully cleaned and serviced and is keeping time very well. This is a fantastic-looking, vintage 1940s watch that will draw eyes to your wrist!
