1945 Rolex Air-King First Version

Description

This is the first version of the Rolex Air-King dating to 1945 and all original. During the 1940s, round Rolex watches were generally small, in the 30-32mm range. Some of the dress watches were up to 36mm, which is rare. This watch measures a respectable 34mm (like the later Air-Kings) in stainless steel with original winding crown. These are slim watches with narrow bezel and look a little smaller than the 70s Air-Kings. The Roman dial is amazing and original including the lume. The blued steel pencil hands are original including the lume. This fine manual winding Rolex movement was recently cleaned and is accurate. The original Rolex stretch and riveted bracelet is British-made WAB (Watch Accessories Birmingham) and was owned by Oscar Winter, a friend of Hans Wilsdorf. These bracelets appear on the very early Rolex watches and were produced to circumvent import duties. This Rolex bracelet will fit up to a 6.75″ wrist. This is a very rare watch.
