Description
This vintage, early 1950s oversized, automatic winding Girard-Perregaux is a real stunner! The large and original two-tone dial is absolutely a knockout, having alternating, reflective (shade-changing) inner and outer registers, curved “antimagnetic” wording above the sub-seconds and original diamond, blued steel hands with sub seconds, raised Arabic (lume) numerals with minute track! There is only minor and usual age spotting seen from an angle, but it is not detracting! The large, 34.5mm stainless steel, screw-back case with sprawling lugs is really eye-catching, having a mirror-like bezel and satin lugs and sides… all properly signed “Girard-Perregaux.” The early bumper winding movement by Girard-Perregaux is sparkling and keeping excellent time after a recent cleaning! This is a very uncommon and high-quality watch that exudes the classic look many seek in a vintage watch.
