This is a rare and early, prototype Rolex Oyster Perpetual Precision Explorer ref. 6298 (big bubbleback) dating to 1953, which preceded the Explorer sporting models. This watch was produced only for the Commonwealth market only. The full-sized, 36mm stainless steel case gleams without any major flaws. This dial was faithfully restored, while retaining the original inset arrow markers, Arabic numerals, and Dauphine hands with blued steel sweep seconds. The automatic winding A296 Rolex movement was just meticulously cleaned and is accurately keeping time. This is a hard-to-find and important vintage Rolex.
