Description
This 1956 Rolex Oyster-Perpetual Precision Meritus measures 34mm across and 43.2mm lug to lug. This watch is all original with a ref. 6594 gold-plated case, and is very clean with only a slight bit of wear on the high edge of the lugs. The original Rolex automatic butterfly caliber 1030 (adjusted to five positions) movement is keeping accurate time after a recent cleaning. The original ref. 6594 case back is stainless steel. The original Rolex Oyster winding crown screws down like silk. Notice the original Dauphine hands and correct blued steel sweep seconds. The dial is original in a two-tone bullseye style with curved print. The Rolex Oyster-Perpetual Precision Meritus is a variety made only for the Canadian market and is extremely uncommon to find these days. We think the watches were only produced for one year, based on the fact that 1956 is the only year we have found them. We are just not finding these at all as of late. These watches look quite large on the wrist due to their extended lugs.
