This is a rare bird, a ref. 6548, 1956 boys-size Rolex Oyster Perpetual Super Precision (30.5mm) automatic winding watch in stainless steel! We rarely see these watches appear with an automatic movement; mainly manual winding watches only surface. Add to this that the movement is adjusted to five positions for greater accuracy, hence the Super-Precision markings on the dial. Notice the red lettering “30m=165 ft.” which is also uncommon. We had this dial faithfully restored while retaining the exact wording that appeared (and had faded). This dial looks spectacular in black, having raised markers, original steel, radium, Dauphine hands, and sweep seconds. The Rolex Oyster screw-down winding crown glides perfectly. The stainless steel Rolex Oyster case is in fine shape for its age with very minor and usual marks. This case is the largest of the boys-sized cases as some were 29.5mm. We’ve had the movement cleaned by our watchmaker recently and it should run for many more decades! This Rolex is made for a man, but is a perfect size for a woman!
