Description
As soon as you lay your eyes on this dial you know it is special! This original dial with raised gold-toned Arabic (Explorer-style) and arrow markers is what we collectors look for in a naturally aged dial. The Dauphine hands and blued steel seconds are also original, as is all the lume. This 1957 Rolex, being an early version of the Oysterdate, is also endowed with the desirable roulette date, which alternates from red to black. Notice the frame around the date aperture. The 34mm ref. 6494 stainless steel case has never been overpolished and really retains a natural-looking finish through years of gentle use. This fine Rolex manual winding movement was just cleaned by our watchmaker and is accurate.
