Description
The 1958 ref. 5504 Rolex Everest Super Precision is a rare watch. The 5504 also came in the more common, but still uncommon, Air-King version as well. The case of the 5504 measures a large 36mm (same as the vintage Datejust) and is rather slender at only 11.6mm including the crystal. This dial, hands, and lume are all original. This example has the rare original two-tone bullseye dial with Explorer 3:00, 6:00, 9:00. The patina looks awesome. This Rolex Oyster case appears to have not been polished and retains detail. The wording “Rolex Oyster” on the case back is still visible and just worn from wrist wear. The caliber 1530 movement is clean and accurate after just being serviced. I’ve only owned one more of these in over 35 years with an original dial like this. Most of these dials have been refinished.
