1958 Rolex Oyster Perpetual With Bullseye Dial

Description

This vintage 1958 Rolex Oyster is quite rare to find these days. The ref. 5506 33mm case is gold plated (as all these were) and only produced for the Canadian market. The bullseye dial is completely untouched and all original and retains the original Dauphine hands and sweep seconds. Rolex experimented in Canada with some interesting watches such as the Rolex Metropolitan, Meritus, Explorer, and Air-King, which all have bullseye-style dials. This dial variation is the most striking and uncommon, having a creamy outer edge with black middle section. On the wrist and with the naked eye, the aging on the outer edges is really not visible. The automatic, original Rolex movement was just cleaned and is accurately keeping time. What I find most interesting is the revival of these bullseye dials, in the brand-new Rolex ref. 116200 Datejust model.
