This is a very uncommon 1959 vintage Rolex ref. 5501 dress Explorer which was produced only for the Canadian market. This 34mm stainless steel watch with 14k-gold-fluted bezel and gold-capped crown looks pristine. This watch was serviced by our Rolex approved watchmaker including passing a water pressure test. Please don’t swim with any vintage watch! The caliber 1530 butterfly movement alone would sell for $2900, as it is the same as used in the ’50s Rolex Submariner; some can sell for over 100k. This original dial has taken on a sunny patina that looks absolutely amazing. The baton markers and Dauphine hands are all original as well. I love how the original blued steel second hand contrasts against the dial. We have priced this rare vintage Rolex gem very well.
