Description
Here is a 34.5mm stainless steel (scratchless) and gleaming cased 1959 Rolex Oyster Precision with an original dial! The suntanned dial is spectacular and quite desirable! This dial would have been originally black but was worn regularly in the blazing Australian sun (where we purchased it), causing a chocolatey and crazed pattern over the decades! These tanned dials are highly sought after due to their unmistakable original condition and vintage appeal! The print is still vibrant and clear. The Dauphine hands, sweep seconds, and raised markers are also in their original state. This highly reliable Rolex manual winding movement is accurate after a recent cleaning and overhaul and should run for many more decades. The bright mirror-like case is beautiful, having a polished bezel, Rolex Oyster winding crown, and Oyster screw back, which are all very fine. Rolex often used case backs from similar watches, as can be seen with this case, either a ref. 6426 or 6427. This was a common practice in the 1950s and 1960s. As you can see on the case back, this watch was manufactured in the first quarter of 1959. We have installed a lizard band, which completes the overall look.
