1960 Waltham Bathy Rare Divers

Description

This circa 1960 Waltham Dive watch is a very rare find. This watch was owned and worn by a professional diver who dove with the watch regularly in the 1960s. This unpolished stainless steel screw-back case with chunky beveled lugs measures a wearable 34mm and even retains the original winding crown. Please note, this is the rarer all-steel version – many of these are chrome-plated. The original turning bakelite elapsed-dive-time bezel with reddish triangular marker at 12:00 is in stunningly beautiful shape for the age of this watch. For a short period in the 1960s, these watches were produced using the exact same parts as the Blancpain Bathyscape in the Blancpain factory for Waltham. The 17-jewel manual winding AS 1686 movement was just cleaned and is accurate. Again, this is the same movement used by Blancpain. Notice how spectacular this original untouched dial, lume and hands are – all original and mesmerizing. Even the original large case seal is present. These watches are extremely rare and will escalate in value in the future. This is a prime example.
