Description
Here is a 1960s vintage Eterna Kon-Tiki 20 measuring 37mm and 45mm lug to lug. The Kon-Tiki was made famous when Eterna chose to commemorate Thor Heyerdahl’s 1947 expedition across the Pacific ocean by raft, from South America to the Polynesian islands. The name Kon-Tiki was named after the Inca sun god Viracocha, for whom Kon-Tiki was said to be an old name. The first Kon-Tiki watch appeared by Eterna in the mid-1950s. This 1960s stainless steel model features a solid-gold medallion on the case screw back. The original brownish colour of this dial is hard to see in the photo but it looks fantastic in person. This is a very fine-looking vintage watch.
