Description
Here is a very interesting Olimpico 25-jewel vintage 1960s dive watch that was obviously competing with the Rolex Submariner of the same era! The 39mm case is without any major dings, but only some minor tool marks on the case rear. Notice the hefty crown guard and screw-down diver’s winding crown! The turning bezel retains its original insert. The original dial is truly amazing, with deeply toned eccentric markers and numerals with date aperture all in spectacular shape! Notice the “990 feet” wording – this is the first time we’ve seen this! The 25-jewel AS movement is running accurately. The hands are also quite attractive, with arrow and pencil design, matching the dial markers. The new stitched leather band is of very high quality, and is thick! The screw-down winding crown is original and signed with the Olimpico logo. These great-looking dive watches are becoming very hard to find and I believe they will increase in value as the Submariners price becomes out of reach for many.
