Description
This is a rare and early Rolex Cosmograph Daytona chronograph in steel measuring 36.5mm and 13.2mm thick. This particular watch dates to 1964 (serial 1194xxx) and was obtained from the original owner – including the bracelet, (dating to 1966) which came with the watch when sold. The original black dial with silver sub-registers is as close to being pristine as possible. Even under the loupe, any aging is microscopic. With the naked eye, the dial appears flawless. The original handset is present. This, being amongst the earliest versions of this watch, has the early and rare steel bezel, with graduations marked up to 300, instead of the later 50-200 (more common) scale. The case is unpolished with very light marks and no major dings, any wear is amplified in my close-up pictures. In the flesh, the watch looks incredibly clean. Our Rolex-approved watchmaker just serviced this piece, with the Valjoux 72B movement working flawlessly.
