Description
This is an uncommon 1967 38mm Bulova Accutron Astronaut with an original dial, scratchless case, and just cleaned 214 tuning fork electric Accutron movement. This watch comes with the original box, hang tag, spare battery envelope, and metal Accutron tag that came complete from the original owner. This watch was chosen by the CIA to be worn by pilots of the highly advanced A-12 aircraft, known as the CIA ‘black aircraft’ project. This aircraft achieved a speed over 3200 km/h. The plane looks like the SR-71 Blackbird, and in fact, was its predecessor. The CIA chose a highly advanced watch to match their newly developed plane. This watch was expensively cleaned in September of 2019 and is working perfectly. The bracelet came with the watch and looks great – not Bulova though. Often these watches appeared on leather. The dial, hands, and lume look spectacular. This watch appears extremely clean and is one of the best examples of an Accutron Astronaut.
