Description
This is a very uncommon circa 1969 Universal Geneve railroad watch utilized and approved by the Canadian National Railroad. To be “Railroad-approved’ by C.N., the watch had to meet the following specifications: “Watch movements and cases used in service must be of the approved standard in effect at date of entry. All watches entering service must be of the anti-magnetic type, fitted with 24-hour dial, waterproof, shockproof with stainless steel screw-back case and equipped with a tension-ring crystal. Cases with gold plating on stainless steel and stainless steel with gold top are permissible.” This 35mm gold-plated case with inwardly curved lugs and stainless steel case back displays excellent condition. The easy-to-read original railroad dial with original handset looks very good with mild aging. This Universal Geneve railroad watch is one of the more difficult examples to find.
