Description
I can truly use the word ‘rare’ when describing this 41mm stainless steel 1970 Omega Seamaster 200 vintage dive watch. We coined the name “Banana” for the yellow-dial Seamaster 200 and “poppy” for the grey-dial version. I’ve named this rare version the “rouge noir.” In over 30 years immersed in the vintage watch world, I’ve never owned this black-dial version. This example is completely original with the dial, hands, lume, and perspex bezel all displaying amazing original condition. The caliber 565 automatic winding Omega movement was meticulously cleaned and is accurate. The case was restored by one of the best case restorers in Canada. The Omega-factory mineral glass crystal plus crown and tube were replaced. Look at the mirrored, sharp edges on this case. This original turning bezel is often found cracked and destroyed but this one is not. This watch is much more uncommon than a $20,000 Rolex Submariner and offers more.
