1970 Omega Seamaster 200 Banana

Description

This is an extremely clean and very rare Omega Seamaster 200m dive watch from 1970 (with 31 million serial) we call the ‘Banana 200.’ I coined the name of this watch the ‘Banana 200’ about five years ago and it seems to have stuck! We have sold more of these than any other dealer in the world. The dials were also originally printed in grey and in black dial configurations with all variations being quite uncommon. French military divers were known to wear these watches. The massive case measures 41mm not including the crown, with mineral-glass (original) scratchless crystal. The vibrant and original rotating bezel clicks one step at a time and is in close-to-pristine shape compared to others we have found. This bezel is not available (new) from Omega anymore, and has not been for years. We have seen these watches with destroyed acrylic bezels. Finding a decent bezel installed on an a Seamaster 200 is difficult. The dial and hands are Omega factory replacements and pristine. The original screw-down crown is present. The robust automatic caliber 565 with swan’s neck regulation was the only movement used in these Omegas – this one was recently cleaned and is accurate. The other special part of this watch is the very clean case and sharp edges! The case back has some tool marks that could easily be polished away but we left them to keep the watch original.
