Description
Look at this all-original (hard to find) vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer 1016! The substantial 36mm stainless steel case (with 1967 date stamp) is as clean as one would ever find. It was fully overhauled and serviced by Rolex recently and it is truly beautiful to gaze upon! We are including a thick Oyster bracelet, which is very fine condition as well! The serial number of 298xxxx dates this watch to the early 1970s. The case back dates to 1967. It is quite common and correct for Rolex to use an earlier case back on a slightly newer watch; we see this often and especially with Submariners of the same era. This particular Explorer was one of the first to use the desired hacking-seconds caliber 1570 movement. The original dial is spectacular, having evenly aged (hands and dial) to a mellow cream colour! This is the finest example of a Rolex Explorer 1016 we have ever owned.
