Eterna Kon-Tiki 1960’s

Here is a 1960’s vintage Eterna Kon-Tiki measuring 37mm. and 45mm. lug to lug. The Kon-Tiki was made famous when ETERNA choice to commemorate Thor Heyerdahl’s 1947 expedition across the Pacific ocean by raft, from South America to the Polynesian islands. The name Kon-Tiki was named after the Inca sun god Viracocha, for whom Kon-Tiki was said to be an old name. The first Kon-Tiki watch appeared my Eterna in the mid-1950’s. This 60’s stainless steel model features a solid gold medallion on the case screw back. The original brownish colour of this dial is hard to see in the photo-looks fantastic in person. This is a very fine looking vintage watch.
