Glycine Airman Screw Back 1950’s

The GLYCINE AIRMAN vintage military watch was used in Vietnam; popular amongst military servicemen and pilots everywhere. From the 1950’s to the 1970’s pilots have relied on them due to their bold and easy to read 24 hour dial. These dials display both 24 hour time and conventional time at the same tim. This 1950’s GLYCINE is very clean, all original, including the black dial with original lume. Notice the uncommon red date. The stainless steel case is in very good shape and retains the original cross hatched crown and turning bezel, along with the original uncommon (early) screw back, as opposed to the pressure fit. The lower crown locks the rotating bezel. The automatic winding, signed (A.S. Movement) was recently cleaned. These watches are becoming hard to find in original condition. The proper crown is installed-with these earlier models having the plain crown as opposed to cross-hatch. Many are not aware, GLYCINE AIRMAN watches have a hacking seconds feature. When the crown is pulled out a hollow tube shoots up a microscopic wire at 12:00 stopping the second hand when it reaches 12:00. This hacking seconds feature is working perfectly. Please also note. PARTS TO FIX SECOND STOP ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE…they sold out 2007. Due to the desirability of the GLYCINE AIRMAN, there are FAKES out there…we know the difference…many are getting scammed…be careful…especially on eBay.
