Description
Hamilton collectors are well aware that this Hamilton Electric Regulus is a very rare watch! The 30x40mm waterproof, stainless steel case is quite eccentric in its design and houses the Hamilton Electric caliber 500 movement, which was overhauled by Rene Rondeau, the noted Hamilton expert. The original white dial with raised, steel Arabic markers with radium, Dauphine, steel hands and red-tipped sweep seconds is in very fine condition for its age. The original steel winding crown is present. The Regulus was produced in 1958 and was in production for only one year, making it a very rare watch indeed. Estimates are, that approximately 2400 were produced and many we are certain have been destroyed when the owner used these watches in water with dry seals, causing leakage into the movement. This is a prime example of an early and rare Hamilton Electric!
