Description
This a very uncommon, large and early Illinois (American) watch dating to 1928 and measuring 31x31mm in a very fine barrel-shaped case. This is a surprisingly large watch for the era of its production. The gold-filled, hand-carved filigree on the sides and bezel of this clean watch are very crisp. The base-metal case back is without scratches. The completely original dial is unbelievably preserved with its luminous intact, as well as the original blued-steel spade hands. Notice the sub-seconds register. The winding crown is original. This watch comes on a vintage lizard strap with a very early buckle. This watch was obviously tucked away for many decades as its spectacular condition displays. The manual winding Illinois movement is finely finished, just serviced and is running well. The Illinois watch company was founded in 1870 in Springfield Illinois and produced very fine movements during its day. 1920s and 30s watches are making a come-back.
