We bought this circa 1942 ROLEX military watch from the original owner recently! Interestingly, this particular fellow was an aviator, and for years worked on and was responsible for the design the famous TOMAHAWK MISSLE PROJECT…. making the history of this watch more alluring! The military sized (smaller) 29mm. is the normal size for these CANADIAN military ROLEX watches…designed smaller to avoid damage during battle. This ROLEX stainless steel back case with gold filled top is in very good condition for its’ age… very minor “brassing” on lug ends…on the wrist it really looks sparkling and scratchless without any wear! This watch has military ordinance numbers on the rear making it a true MILITARY ROLEX…enhancing is collectability and value even further. The watch retains its’ original “dust proof” winding crown! The dial is very interesting and highly sought after in this range of ROLEX…reflective bulls-eye middle…outer seconds register….red 24 hour…Arabic numerals… original pencil hands and red sweep seconds. The age and spotting truly only shows in my detailed macro photographs…in real life the dial looks EXTREMELY CLEAN! The manual winding ROLEX movement is of a higher grade than we normally see in this range of ROLEX… properly signed on the ratchet wheel… keeping accurate time! We have even installed a new old stock 1940’s leather band we have been saving to further enhance the authentic vintage appeal.
