Description
The Oyster Recorda was an uncommon military watch sold only at the PX stores to Canadian soldiers going overseas to fight in WW2. These were demure watches, measuring 29mm. On the wrist, these Rolex watches attract much attention and create conversation. Rolex produced these watches, utilizing the caliber 59 movement which was always signed Rolex under the dial and not anywhere visible on the backplate. This movement was just serviced. These watches utilized the Rolex Oyster case and the Rolex Oyster screw-down winding crown. This watch retains its original gold-filled finish with stainless-steel Oyster back. I do love all the little case battle scars that exhibit the watch’s life. The original dial is amazing and complex in appearance, having gold gilt seconds scale and outer 1/5th second register, along with 24 hour military scale, original pencil hands and red sweep-second hand. These original WW2 Oyster examples are appearing rarely as of late.
