This WW2 era circa 1941 OYSTER REGENT is becoming a rare bird. This watch is a barn find and was stored for many years, retaining all its patina. The original dial is very attractive; having a gold reflective scale, original pencil hands (without lume) and 24 hour red military scale. The (just serviced and accurate) correct manual winding caliber 59 movement is signed Rolex under the dial on the top plate. Rolex modified ebauche movements made by Fontmelon, which was named the FF30 and later renamed the Rolex caliber 59. The gold filled case with steel Oyster back has original patina which could easily be hand-polished off if desired. This Oyster watch even retains the correct Oyster Patent winding crown. The Oyster series of watches were produced by Rolex and assembled in Canada to circumvent duties and taxes. These watches were marketed to Canadian soldiers going overseas to fight in WW2 and were sold at the PX stores. How can you not love the busy but balanced and elaborate dial? Try to find another!
