This is an all original and uncommon WW2 MILITARY OYSTER RECORDA produced by the ROLEX watch company in and about 1942. The gold plated case is quite nice…truly sparkling, with the reference 3478 stainless steel OYSTER case back having desirable and uncommon R.C.A.F. markings! (Royal Canadian Air Force). The original OYSTER PATENT winding crown is still functioning perfectly., but much of the print is worn. The caliber 59 movement (all original and signed ROLEX under the dial) is keeping time very well after a recent clean and overhaul. The original dialh as beautifully aged…all original…Arabic numerals red sweep seconds, red, original blued steel pencil hands. These 28.5mm. WW2 OYSTER watches are small in size and probably designed to avoid damage during battle. They were designed and sold to CANADIAN soldiers going overseas in WW2. This is a wonderful example…all original…excepting (of course) the perfect (new) vintage looking, stitched, leather band that compliments the watch quite nicely. These vintage military OYSTER watches are becoming very hard to find in original condition, especially as fine as this example!.
