We found this circa 1942 ROYCE SWISS watch that is smaller in size…21.5×30.5mm. (was a mans’ watch) but would also be perfect for a woman due to its’ small stature. Eska watch company was was founded 1918 in Grenchen, Switzerland by S. & E. Kocher and manufactured under thee name “ROYCE as well. The case is absolutely mint…. rhodium plated… (looks like platinum)… it shimmers like a mirror! Rhodium is closely related to the precious metal Platinum. Rhodium is a lustrous, silver-white metal and is used in jeweler manufacture because of its brilliance, highly polished appearance and resistance to tarnish and wear. Rhodium is liquid in its raw natural state. Rhodium plating was popular in the 30’s and 40’s, is very durable, and very expensive. The case back is stainless steel. The original dial is really wonderful…salmon background with reflective, mirror-like track and Arabic, (reflective) numerals. Notice the sub-seconds register and blued steel hands. The manual winding 17 jewel movement was just fully cleaned and serviced and is keeping time very well. This is a fantastic looking, vintage 1940’s watch that will draw eyes to your wrist!
