Tudor Tuxedo Oyster Prince 34 Roger Sterling Mad Men

Description

I have been selling the this version of the Tudor Oyster Prince 34 for over 35 years. Most of these were produced and sold for the Canadian market, so I grabbed every one I could. I’ve sold likely 50 or more over the years; so many, I even named it myself – the “Tudor Tuxedo,” based on the dial style. I remember sitting in the basement of a watch dealer friend in Toronto, and I decided to name this Tudor and some Omegas about 15 years ago. Firstly, I came up with the “Tudor Tuxedo,” then the “Omega Banana,” “Omega Poppy” and the “Omega Rouge Noir;” with the Omegas based on the Seamaster 200 series. Well, even Rolex uses my ‘Tuxedo Dial” name on their website. I loved these watches so much; when the prop master for Mad Men asked me to style their characters, I chose the Tudor Tuxedo for their Roger Sterling character, as worn by John Slattery in the series. This 34mm circa 1955 Tudor Tuxedo has taken on an even patina. The 34mm steel case with lyre lugs looks very good for its age. The automatic winding Tudor caliber 390 was just cleaned and is the same movement as used in the ’50s Tudor Submariner watches. This watch looks better in person and I have priced it very well.
