This is a fine and uncommon 1956 TUDOR made by ROLEX using the very famous, rugged and rarely seen caliber 390 movement which was made in the ROLEX factory based on the caliber 1530 ROLEX movement. These movements were considered the best ever used in TUDOR watches. They were only produced for a short while, then ETA was chosen as their movements for years to come. This particular example is special due to its’ original black dial with gold, gilt print and highly sought after “Explorer style” 12, 3, 6 , 9 configuration in applied Arabic numerals. Notice also, the uncommon solid gold bezel, and matching gold ROLEX winding crown, further enhancing the collectability of this vintage TUDOR watch. This TUDOR case measures very much the same as the ROLEX of the era…34mm. and a chunky 11.8mm. adding to its’ imposing look.
