This is a very fine manual winding ref. 6498 circa 1964 VACHERON CONSTANTIN 18k. solid gold “Extra Flat” 33mm. and only thin (4.5mm.) This is still one of the thinnest mechanical wrist watches available. Measuring only 1.64mm. thin, this movement still holds the record. The development of this movement was a joint effort between Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger LeCoultre and Audemars Piguet. The 1003 is still used in VC’s current range today. Vacheron recently re-launched this movement in 2010, celebrating the movement’s 55th. anniversary and called the watch the “Historiqu ultra-thin watch.” This caliber 1003 manual winding, rhodium plated VACHERON movement is adjusted to 5 position-just cleaned and accurate. We have NEVER seen another ref. 6498 Vacheron-this is the first we’ve seen! The 18k. solid gold case is in very fine condition overall.
